2015: The work Choose Live Lead did to around the world in 2015

To review, here's what you helped accomplish in 2015

  • United States - the Kickball for Kids game raised money for the homes we support in Jamaica - Robin's Nest Children's Home, Granville, Homestead and Father's House.

  • Russia - because of you, we traveled to two cities in Russia to host a seminar for orphan teens on goal setting and business-building. We were able to bring them The One Thing books in Russian, and hired a translator to translate instructor Heidi Fore's message to the students.

  • Jamaica - Special projects were coordinated at Robins Nest children's home and donations given

  • Jamaica - Taught business skills classes at Granville Place of Safety near Montego Bay

Our instructors taught from our Choose Live Lead workbooks, Success For Teens from the Success Foundation, and principles from KW Kids Can and KW Bold.

  • Uganda - Raised money to buy text books for a school in Uganda through Arise and Shine Uganda. We purchased text books for a school in Uganda that needed new textbooks.

In case you're wondering, here are some more details on the above work...

DECEMBER 2015: TEENAGERS COMPLETED OUR 12 WEEK ENTREPRENEURIAL BUSINESS SKILLS CLASS AND STARTED A BUSINESS IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS SALES. THEY MADE PERFUME, BUG SPRAY, CITRONELLA CANDLES, SALT SCRUB AND SUGAR SCRUB FOR SMOOTH HANDS AND FEET. WE ARE PROUD OF THEM.

JUNE 2015: WHAT THE STUDENTS OF OUR BUSINESS SKILLS CLASS IN KINGSTON JAMAICA LEARNED: T****** SAID, “THREE THINGS THAT I HAVE LEARNT TODAY: ANYTHING THAT I DO, DO IT AT MY BEST. BELIEVE IN MY DREAMS. THINK ABOUT THINGS I CAN DO NOW TO MAKE ONE STEP CLOSER TO MY FUTURE. ONE THING I WILL ACCOMPLISH IS I WILL DO MY BEST TO BECOME A JOURNALIST AND TO BE A BETTER PERSON IN LIFE.” N******* SAID, “THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS I’VE LEARNT TODAY: TO BE WHO I AM, AND TO JUST BE ME. THE STEPS AND PATHS THAT I TAKE CAN ONLY CHANGE MY FUTURE… NOT MY PAST. TRY SAVING AND BUDGETING MY MONEY WISELY. THE ONE GOAL I WILL ACCOMPLISH IS #1 FINISH SCHOOL SO THAT I CAN FULFILL ALL MY DREAMS.”

S****** SAID, “WHAT I LEARNT TODAY: SETBACKS ARE INEVITABLE BUT DON’T ALLOW THEM TO DETER YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS. THE ONLY MISTAKES MADE ARE THE ONES WE DON’T LEARN FROM. ALWAYS DRESS LIKE THE JOB YOU WANT TO GET. WHAT I WILL DO: I WILL GET EXCELLENT GRADES IN MY EXAMS IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE MY GOAL OF BECOMING A LAWYER.” ANOTHER STUDENT SAID, “[ONE OF MY GOALS] IN THE FIVE YEARS I WOULD LIKE TO DO A WEATHER FORECAST AND WOULD LIKE TO BE A METEOROLOGIST. [WHAT I LEARNED TODAY] FOR GETTING A JOB, IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS I MUST HAVE ARE A TRN, BIRTH CERTIFICATE, IMMUNISATION CARD, PASSPORT, BANK ACCOUNT. DRESS LIKE THE JOB YOU WANT TO GET. J******* SAID, “[WHAT I LEARNED] 1. I HAVE LEARNED TO SET MY GOAL 2. THAT YOU HAVE TO GET A TRN 3. THAT YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE [MY GOAL] I AM GOING TO GO TO A TEACHER COLLEGE.”
